People can joke about the quality of Playboy celebrities in the later years — a lot of reality stars, relatives of famous people, ex-wrestlers, former teen pop stars — but let’s not forget they did occasionally nail the zeitgeist. Vida Guerra, specifically her famous ass, was a sensation in the early 2000s; FHM introduced her in 2002 and over months and months spent many pages building her and those flawless cheeks into an institution. She was their Model of the Year in 2004. She was in hip hop videos. Really, Vida Guerra was just white-hot, displaying as much as she could in thongs and slingshot bikinis within the constraints of PG-13 magazines and music videos. After all, she couldn’t get naked in FHM. She couldn’t get naked in a Nelly or Kanye video.
Playboy walks in, thumbing through a wad of cash. “You can get naked for us, Vida…” And she did. It was 2006 and the issue sold out real quick.
