Regardless what you think of Madonna today, it’s indisputable that she demolished the envelope with respect to sexuality in pop music in the ’80s. “Like a Virgin” was scandalous for the use of the V-word, angry parents picketed when “Papa Don’t Preach” came out, her kiss with a black Jesus man as crosses burned in the “Like a Prayer” video pissed off white Jesus people, and she made us all visit some kind of freaky sex hotel in the “Justify My Love” video. But nothing really touches the book she put out in 1992 — called simply Sex, it was all about her fetishes and kinks, and co-starred Naomi Campbell, Vanilla Ice, Big Daddy Kane, Dennis Rodman, and probably others who were famous at the time.
